1:1 Networking/Mentorship
Connect with industry professionals to expand your network. Learn from industry professionals about their career journeys, gain insights into different companies and roles and make meaningful connections.
Through the ENGAGE networking platform you can connect with an industry professional for a 30-minute 1:1 informational interview every month.
Who Can Join
ENGAGE is open to HQPs (highly qualified personnel), which includes graduate students (Masterâs or PhD program for at least 12 months), postdoctoral fellows, research associates and laboratory technicians in relevant STEM programs.

What are Training Credits?
Training Credits are considered BioHubNetâs own currency. Each course on BioHubNet âcostsâ a certain number of Credits to access. Upon confirming your eligibility, we will apply up to 5000 Training Credits to your account. Once the Training Credits are applied, you can start using these to enroll in courses on the BioHubNet Training Platform.
Are there any rules/restrictions on Training Credits?
As we have limited amount of total Training Credits that we can offer to eligible HQPs, we have implemented a few steps to ensure the Training Credits are utilized in a timely and equitable manner:
- Any amount of unused Training Credits will expire 12 months from the date of approval.
- If less than 2500 Training Credits are used within the first 6 months of approval, the remaining will expire.
My institution is not currently eligible for Training Credits. Can I join BioHubNet?
Yes, you can still register on the BioHubNet Training Platform, and view our full catalogue to learn more. We plan to expand program eligibility soonâupdates will be shared on our website and through our newsletter. We encourage you to check back regularly and subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed!
I am in a STEM program within an eligible institution, but unsure if my program/educational background is aligned with BioHubNet's scope.
HQPs in STEM programs relevant to the Biomanufacturing/Life Sciences industry are encouraged to apply. Please reach out to us. If you have questions regarding your eligibility and we can discuss if BioHubNet programs are the right fit for you.
How do I enroll in a course?
Once your Training Credit application has been approved, you will receive an email notification and the âTraining Creditâ tab will be deactivated.
You can now start enrolling in courses. To enroll, log back into BioHubNet. You can browse through our catalogue which is currently divided into several topics. Select the âMore infoâ button for course descriptions, and the âEnrollâ button to enroll in a course.
Go to âProgress Trackerâ to view your current course and select the âGo to Courseâ button. This will direct you to the Learning Management System (LMS) of the course provider.
Note, you can take one on-demand course at a time. Once you have completed a course, it will show up on under âCourses Completedâ and you will be able to revisit the course by clicking on it. You can also track how many credits you have used to date under âProgress Trackerâ.
When will BioHubNetâs structured curricula become available?
We expect to introduce structured curricula this summer for roles in Biomanufacturing, Quality Control, R&D and more. These curricula will consist of a curated collection of existing courses on BioHubNet along with new courses, and utilize combined insights from national occupational standards, current job postings and industry feedback to meet and exceed current industry skills demands.
I am an eligible HQP for ENGAGE program â How do I access the Networking Platform?
Once you are approved for Training Credits, you will be auto-enrolled in two additional 1-hour courses that provide high level overviews of the Canadian Life Science industry and typical roles within a large biopharmaceutical company. After you have completed these courses, your profile will be activated on the Networking Platform.
You will start receiving emails every month from the BioHubNet Team with availabilities of industry professionals to book one 30 minute 1:1 networking session. BioHubNet team will take care of the logistics, send an email to introduce you to your selected industry professional and provide a meeting link.
I am an Industry Professional â I am curious to learn more about the Networking Platform.
When you enter your email here, we will follow up with more information on our Networking & Mentorship and a registration link. Once your profile has been approved on BioHubNet as an industry professional, you will start receiving an email in the last week of each month asking you to provide up to 5 potential slots for a 30-minute session for the following month. Once you indicate your availability, we will confirm one of these slots within 24 hours. And you are all set! We take care of the logistics, send an email to introduce you to your matched HQP and provide a meeting link. We appreciate your time and contribution â which is why BioHubNetâs Networking & Mentorship Platform is designed with flexibility in mind. We only book one 30-minute session each month. If your schedule doesnât permit, please feel free to skip a month and we will reconnect the following month. You also have the option to Unsubscribe at any time.
