This summer marked an exciting milestone for BioHubNet's ENGAGE Training Pillar. We officially launched four Learning Pathways, each combining sector-specific industry training, professional development support, and connections to equip highly qualified personnel with the skills and confidence needed to build successful careers and contribute to Canada's innovation pipeline.
Career-aligned pathways
From sector knowledge to field-ready confidence
Regulatory Affairs Learning Pathway
Delivered with Seneca Polytechnic, this accelerated seven-week online program helped aspiring professionals develop the confidence and independence to navigate complex regulatory landscapes. Trainees explored regulations governing biopharmaceutical products from development through post-market authorization, then applied their learning through real-world case studies and a capstone presentation.
Medical Affairs Learning Pathway
Delivered with pharmaceutical medical education experts Agilis Health, this immersive two-day, in-person pathway explored the critical role of Medical Affairs. Interactive activities and simulated professional interactions helped trainees strengthen effective questioning, stakeholder engagement, and insight-generation skills for real-world settings.
Biomanufacturing Learning Pathway
BioHubNet launched its first biomanufacturing pathway, Aseptic Techniques and Cell Culture Basics, with the Canadian Advanced Therapies Training Institute (CATTI). The three-day in-lab program introduced participants to regulated biomanufacturing environments, Good Manufacturing Practices, good documentation practices, aseptic techniques, and practical cell culture skills.
Entrepreneurship Learning Pathway
Delivered with the Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization (OBIO), this intensive in-person program brought ENGAGE and EQUIP together to support budding entrepreneurs leading IP-backed ventures. Through lectures, panels, and mentored sessions, participants refined commercialization, regulatory, and clinical strategies before presenting to investors in a supportive pitch clinic.
Data sciences and microfluidics
Alongside the curated Learning Pathways, 17 ENGAGE HQP joined CRAFT's annual Microfluidics Professional Course to explore advances in the field and manufacture their own microfluidic devices. Another 20 ENGAGE HQP developed skills in data science foundations, public-health forecasting, and cybersecurity through microcredentials offered by INSPIRE and the University of Toronto Data Sciences Institute.

Growth across every Learning Pathway
Every Learning Pathway participant was surveyed before and after training to assess self-reported sector knowledge and confidence in performing job-specific activities. Every participant experienced growth, and 100% reported that the training added value.
